Through the fall of Adam we inherited sin and sickness, through the death of Christ we inherited
salvation of our soul and body. We are the children of God and Jesus bought us back from slavery to Satan.
The shedding of the blood of Jesus was the price required for the remission of sins. ( 1 John 1:17.) and
Jesus endured those lashes on His back to redeem us from sickness and disease. (Isaiah 53:4-5.)
Jesus healed all
The Gospels are peppered with extraordinary miracles of healing performed by Jesus. People would
pursue Jesus from town to town because of His ability to heal. The presence of miracles in the ministry of
Jesus opened the door for the Gospel to be taught and heard.
Jesus was a walking billboard and the miracles He performed was His advertising. Jesus achieved
the impossible and extraordinary and the multitudes were amazed. Wherever Jesus performed healings,
the people followed. Jesus never turned anyone away, He healed anyone in need of healing and met every need.
Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many
others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them. The people were amazed when they saw the
mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And they praised the
God of Israel.
Matthew 15:30-31
And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding
country. People brought all their sick to him and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of
his cloak, and all who touched him were healed.
Matthew 14:35-36
News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various
diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the
paralyzed, and he healed them.
Matthew 4:24
Jesus bore your sickness
Jesus is your sin-bearer and your sickness-bearer. He healed people while He was walking on this
earth 2000 years ago and He still heals people today. Jesus gave His life for everyone, past and present,
what He did for them 2000 years ago, He will do for you today. Jesus is the fulfillment of the prophecy in
Isaiah 53:4-5.
As it says in Matthew 8:16-17: When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were
brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill
what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases.
When Jesus died on the cross, He took our sins and sicknesses upon Himself. As our substitute,
Jesus bore upon Himself what was rightfully ours. Through the fall of Adam, it was our place to pay the
penalty for sin and sickness. But, by the grace of God, Jesus took our place, became our substitute and
carried away all our sins, sicknesses and diseases. Those sins and sicknesses died to us when they died
with Jesus on the cross.
